He describes how to distinguish acute from chronic hepatitis and how to diagnose hepatitis C cirrhosis. He describes the appearance of alcoholic cirrhosis and discusses some of the hallmarks of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Also presented are imaging techniques that he finds useful to obtain the most information from a study performed on a patient who is a suboptimal MRI candidate. Lastly, he demonstrates a case in which MRI of the abdomen and pelvis can be instrumental in determining the etiology of newly diagnosed ascites in a middle- aged woman.
